Green Rock Energy Partners buys RNG facility in Pennsylvania

December 9, 2022

US infrastructure-focused private equity firm Green Rock Energy Partners LLC unveiled Thursday the acquisition of PSA South Hills Landfill Gas Venture LLC, a renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility located in South Park Township, Pennsylvania.

South Hills upgrades landfill biogas to produce RNG that will be sold in the vehicular transportation market as renewable compressed natural gas. The production capacity of the facility is expected to top one million gallons of renewable fuel per year.

Green Rock has partnered with United Green Energy, among others, to manage the renewable natural gas offtake, the investor said in a press release.

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Founded in 2019, New York-based Green Rock invests in renewable energy companies and projects with a focus on waste-to-value energy assets.

South Hills comes as the latest investment made by Green Rock in the energy transition sector this year. It follows the private equity firm’s bets on RNG producer Bio Town Biogas.
